A bright, themed word search. Drag across the letter grid to find hidden words about animals, space, food, the ocean and more, across three grid sizes, and try to beat your best time.
How to play
Each puzzle has a theme and a list of words hidden in the grid. Words run in a straight line: right or down on Easy, and in any of 8 directions (including backwards and diagonally) on Medium and Hard. Drag from the first letter to the last to mark a word. Find them all to finish the puzzle, then go on to the next theme. Hint briefly lights up the first letter of a word you haven't found.
Controls
Drag across letters with a mouse or finger; the selection snaps to a straight line. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move the cursor, Enter or Space to start and end a selection, and Escape to cancel. Pick Easy (8×8), Medium (10×10) or Hard (12×12) above the word list. Hint and New puzzle buttons are below it.
Tips and strategy
- On Easy, words only run left to right or top to bottom, so scan each row and column for the first letter of a word.
- On Medium and Hard, look for rare letters like Q, X, Z, J or K from the word list first, then check all eight directions around them.
- You can drag a word from either end, because a selection that spells a word backwards still counts as found.
- Hint only lights up the first letter of a random unfound word and adds to a hint count shown when you finish, without adding time.

How many words are in each Word Search puzzle?
Easy puzzles hide 6 words in an 8 by 8 grid, Medium hides 8 words in a 10 by 10 grid, and Hard hides 10 words in a 12 by 12 grid.
What themes does Word Search have?
There are 12 themes: Animals, Space, Food, Ocean, Sports, Weather, Music, Garden, Travel, Colors, Jobs and Kitchen. Finishing a puzzle moves you on to the next theme.
Can a word appear more than once in the Word Search grid?
No. Each puzzle is generated so every listed word appears in the grid exactly once, so there is only one correct place to find it.
Does Word Search save my best times?
Yes. Your best completion time is saved on your device separately for Easy, Medium and Hard, along with the puzzle you are on.

Your best time for each difficulty, your puzzle progress and your chosen difficulty are saved only in this browser on this device. No account is needed, and scores are never uploaded. In-game ads are served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies; see the Quokka Games privacy policy.
