A classic 7×6 drop-disc board game. Challenge the computer on Easy, Medium, or Hard, or play a friend on the same device, with bouncy disc drops, a glowing winning line, and a scoreboard saved on your device.

How to play

Take turns dropping discs into the seven columns; each disc falls to the lowest open space. Be the first to line up four of your discs horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. If the board fills with no line of four, the game is a draw. Choose vs Computer (Easy, Medium, Hard) or 2 Players, and pick who goes first or take turns starting.

Controls

Tap or click a column to drop a disc; a preview disc shows where it will go. Keyboard: Left/Right Arrow to choose a column and Enter or Space to drop, or press 1–7 to drop straight into that column. In 2-player mode, Undo (or U) takes back the last move. New game restarts with the same settings; Menu changes mode, difficulty, and who starts.

Tips and strategy

  • Hard mode searches seven moves ahead, so set up two threats at once; a single open threat will almost always be blocked.
  • Start in the center column: it belongs to more possible lines of four than any other column, and the computer also prefers it.
  • On Easy, the computer blocks your immediate winning move most of the time but not always, so keep pressing threats it might miss.
  • Before dropping a disc, check the space directly above it, since your move may give your opponent a winning spot on the next turn.

Four in a Row FAQ

Can I undo a move in Four in a Row?

Undo is available only in 2 Players mode, where the Undo button or the U key takes back the last move. It is hidden when you play against the computer.

How hard are the computer levels in Four in a Row?

Easy takes any win it sees, usually blocks yours, and otherwise plays a random move that leans toward the center. Medium searches four moves ahead, and Hard searches seven moves ahead.

Does Four in a Row keep score?

Yes. Wins for each side and draws are saved on your device, with separate scoreboards for vs Computer and 2 Players. You can reset the scores at any time.
