A cute chunky dino sprints through a glowing sunset desert in this endless runner. Hop over clumps of cacti, duck under swooping critters, and see how far you can go as the pace keeps climbing and day turns to starry night.
How to play
Your dino runs by itself. Jump over cacti and flying critters, or duck under critters flying at head height; high flyers can be run under. Tap jump for a short hop or hold it to jump higher, and press duck in mid-air to drop fast. The run speeds up over time, flying critters join once you're moving fast, and night falls for a while every 700 points. Your score is the distance you cover, and one hit ends the run.
Controls
Space, Up arrow, or W to jump (hold to jump higher). Down arrow or S to duck, or to fast-fall in mid-air. On touch screens, tap the scene or the Jump button to jump, and swipe down or hold the Duck button to duck. Mouse users can click the scene to jump. P or Esc pauses.
Tips and strategy
- Flying critters only appear once the run gets fast, after roughly 40 seconds, so use the cactus-only opening to find your rhythm.
- Critters fly at three heights: low ones must be jumped, head-height ones can be ducked, and high ones can be run under.
- Press duck in mid-air to fast-fall; gravity triples, so you land sooner and are ready for the next obstacle.
- You can press jump a split second before landing; the input is buffered and the dino jumps as soon as its feet touch the ground.
- The same obstacle type never appears more than twice in a row, so after two of one kind, expect something different next.
Desert Dash FAQ
How is the score calculated in Desert Dash?
Your score comes only from the distance you cover. The pace keeps rising until it tops out at a little over twice the starting speed, so points build faster the longer you survive.
How long does night last in Desert Dash?
Night falls every 700 points and lasts about 12 seconds before fading back to day.
Does Desert Dash save my high score?
Yes. Your best score, number of runs and sound setting are saved in this browser's local storage.
