The timeless logic puzzle with a glossy modern look. Clear every safe tile using the number clues, flag the hidden mines, and chase your best time on Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert.

How to play

Reveal tiles to clear the minefield. Each number shows how many mines touch that tile. Flag tiles you know hide mines, and reveal everything else to win. Your first click is always safe and opens an area. Hitting a mine ends the round, shows every mine, and crosses out wrong flags. Choose Beginner (9×9, 10 mines), Intermediate (16×16, 40 mines), or Expert (30×16, 99 mines).

Controls

Click or tap to reveal. Right-click, long-press, or turn on Flag mode to place a flag. Click a revealed number whose flags match it to reveal its neighbors (chording; middle-click also works). Keyboard: arrow keys move the cursor, Space or Enter reveals, F flags, N starts a new game. The face button starts a new game.

Tips and strategy

  • Your first click never hits a mine and clears the 3 by 3 area around it, so start near the middle to open the widest area.
  • Chord to save time: click a revealed number whose flags already match it, and all of its other neighbors open at once.
  • Be sure before you chord, because a wrongly placed flag makes chording reveal a real mine and end the round.
  • You do not need to flag every mine to win; revealing every safe tile finishes the board, and the remaining mines are flagged for you.

Minesweeper FAQ

Is the first click always safe in Minesweeper?

Yes. Mines are only placed after your first click, and they avoid the tile you clicked and its neighbors whenever the board has room, so the first click opens an area.

What happens when you hit a mine in Minesweeper?

The round ends, every unflagged mine is shown, and any flags you placed on safe tiles are crossed out so you can see your mistakes.

Does Minesweeper save my best times?

Yes. Your best time, wins and games played are saved on your device separately for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert.

How do I place flags on a phone in Minesweeper?

Long-press a tile, or turn on Flag mode so a tap places a flag instead of revealing. On narrow screens the Expert board is rotated to a tall layout to fit.
