A classic layered tile-matching puzzle. Remove matching pairs of free ivory tiles from a 144-tile Turtle pyramid (or a compact 88-tile Tower on small screens), chain quick matches for combo points, and clear the board against the clock. Every deal is generated to be solvable.
How to play
Select two matching tiles that are free to remove them. A tile is free when no tile sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Flowers match any flower and seasons match any season. Clear every pair to win; quick consecutive matches earn combo points, and finishing faster adds a time bonus. Hints cost 20 points; each game has 3 shuffles (30 points each) and unlimited undo.
Controls
Click or tap tiles. Keyboard: Tab to a free tile and Enter or Space to select, H for a hint, S to shuffle, U or Ctrl+Z to undo, N for a new game, Esc to deselect.
Tips and strategy
- Match again within 4 seconds to build a combo: each combo step adds 5 points on top of the base 10, up to +30.
- Hints cost 20 points and reset your combo, so try to spot pairs yourself during a streak.
- Prefer pairs that sit on top of other tiles, since uncovering buried tiles opens more future matches than clearing loose edges.
- Finish fast: the time bonus is 6 points per tile minus the seconds you took.
- Undo is unlimited and restores your previous score, so it's free to back out of a dead end.
Mahjong Solitaire FAQ
Is every Mahjong Solitaire deal solvable?
Yes. Each deal is generated along with a known solution, so the board can always be cleared. Shuffles also try to keep the remaining tiles solvable.
What happens when there are no moves left in Mahjong Solitaire?
You can shuffle the remaining tiles (3 shuffles per game, 30 points each), undo, or start a new deal.
How is the score calculated in Mahjong Solitaire?
Each pair is worth 10 points plus 5 per combo step when you match within 4 seconds of the previous pair. Hints cost 20, shuffles cost 30, and clearing the board adds a time bonus.
Does Mahjong Solitaire save my best score?
Yes. Your best score and best time are saved in this browser.
